📚 What this game helps with
Therapy goals: vocabulary development, semantic categorisation, word-to-picture association, and the
flexible thinking it takes to notice what a group of things have in common. Tips: start with two
obviously different categories (Food vs Animals) and 8 items, then work up to three-way sorts like Animal Habitats.
Living vs Non-Living and Big vs Small ask for reasoning rather than recall — save those for once the easier sets feel
automatic. Ask “why does that one belong there?” after each sort; the explanation is where most of the work happens.
Nobody gets stuck: a wrong answer doesn't just repeat “think again”. Clues appear on each category,
then the right one glows, then the monster explains it and places it — and the item is logged so you know it needed
teaching. Some answers are cleverer than the game: a tomato really is a fruit, and a car really does
move. Those get agreed with first, then the everyday convention is explained — and they're listed separately as
discussion prompts, not errors. The report records what was chosen and how much help was given; ask the child why
before writing down a reason. Tap or keyboard: tap the item, then tap a category — or press the
category's number key. Read-aloud is on by default for pre-readers and stays on this device.
